How it works

In Menorca the duty rota doesn't go by town but by zone, and there are three. Ciutadella has its own; Maó covers es Castell and Sant Lluís; and Alaior, Ferreries, es Mercadal and es Migjorn Gran share one. That's why this page covers the whole island and not a single town: if you're staying in Ferreries, the pharmacy on duty at night may be half an hour's drive away.

Each shift starts at 9 in the morning and runs until 9 the next morning, so in the small hours it's still the previous day's pharmacy — which is why we show you the one open now, not the one on today's calendar.

In the central zone different pharmacies cover the day and the night, and two cover the night at once: one in Maó and one in Ciutadella. It isn't a mistake on the page — that's how the rota works. If you're in Ferreries or es Mercadal, at night you'll be driving to one end of the island or the other, so we show both.

Outside normal opening hours the door is usually locked and you're served through a bell or a hatch. Call before you get in the car: if you need a specific medicine, it may save you the trip. In an emergency, call 112.
